Well, hypothermia is a serious condition that can be fatal if not treated quickly. It’s divided into five stages, starting with mild hypothermia at 95-89.6 degrees. At this stage, you’ll still have normal or nearly normal consciousness and you’ll be shivering. Moderate hypothermia is 89.6-82.4 degrees and severe hypothermia is 82.4-75.2 degrees - both of these stages can cause confusion and drowsiness as well as shivering and slurred speech. Apparent death occurs at 75.2-59 degrees, where the person may appear to be dead but could still be revived with medical help - so don’t give up hope! Finally, death from irreversible hypothermia occurs when the body temperature drops below 59 degrees - so it’s important to get help right away if you think someone has hypothermia!
